Duke of Edinburgh Award

Martial Arts (including kung fu) can be used as part of a young person's DofE Physical Section at Bronze, Silver, and Gold level.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (commonly abbreviated D of E) is the generic name for a youth awards programme founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, that has since expanded to 144 nations.

As independent assessors of the physical DofE section, WECA helps develops confidence along with key physical attributes such as fitness, flexibility, balance, and agility.

Goals can be talked through and agreed upon as soon as you let SiFu Matt know you wish to use Kung Fu for your DofE.

SiFu Matt Williams has filled out many assessor's reports for the club's members over the years, and is happy to help work out suitable goals for each level of DofE.

Once the goals have been set SiFu Matt can sign off a weekly logbook and at the end complete the Assessor's Report.

Assessor’s reports can be submitted in two ways, these include online at www.DofE.org/assessor  or on the report card supplied by the candidates.

Lion Dance

If students want a different physical challenge or a skill option our club has a Lion Dance section as well!

Learning either of the Lion parts or the Buddha part would count towards the Physical section of DofE, or learning the musical side would count towards Skill.

Do note that DofE does not typically allow one activity to count towards two sections, so learning Lion Dance cannot be used for both Physical and Skill simultaneously.
